The Reward of Faith
“Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works
of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye
believe on him whom he hath sent.” (John 6:28-29)
Today’s Morsel: Do you know
why the enemy of your soul desires to discourage you and cause you to give up
and lose faith? Because he knows that understanding is the reward of
faith. Once you get a clear understanding of who God is, and what God
means in His word, he knows you are a force to be reckoned with. Many
folks have said that they want to do a work for the Lord. But they are
without understanding. Even Jesus’ disciples asked Him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? And Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye
believe on Him whom He hath sent. Jesus said look, the work of
God is to just believe in me. Albert Barns, in his commentary, states in
this passage, “This is the thing that will be acceptable to God, or which you
are to do in order to be saved. Jesus did not tell them they had nothing
to do, or that they were to sit down and wait, but that there was a work to perform,
and that was a duty that was imperative. It was to believe in the
Messiah. This is the work which sinners are to do; and doing this they
will be saved, for Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one
that believeth.” Therefore, we must seek not to understand that we may
believe but believe that we may understand. As that is the reward of one’s
faith.
Sing: I believe God! I believe God! That He
will do just as He says, trust and obey, believe Him, and say, I believe, I
believe God.
If you need salvation now, or the Holy Ghost and power, just
trust and obey, believe Him, and say, I believe, I believe God!
Thought For Today: Understanding is the
reward of faith.
Very good teaching!
