Covering All in Prayer
“I exhort therefore, that, first of
all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for
all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet
and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable
in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come
unto the knowledge of the truth.”
(1 Timothy 2:1-4)
Today’s
Morsel: If you were called on to pray in your local assembly,
would you know what to pray for? Or would you be ashamed? Sad to
say, many people are afraid and ashamed to pray openly and in public. I
have seen many people who must write their prayers on paper because they are
afraid of not knowing what to say. In writing to the church in Rome
Paul stated, “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not
what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession
for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts
knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the
saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:26-27) Jesus said, “But
when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that
they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto
them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed
be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our
debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine
is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” (Matthew
6:7-13) Prayer is just thanking God for what He’s going to do; as He
already knows the things we have need of before we ask Him.
Sing: Thank
You, Lord! Thank You, Lord! Thank You, Lord, I just want to thank You,
Lord.
