The Gem of The Soul
“There is gold, and a
multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.” (Proverbs
20:15)
Today’s Morsel:
Gold is valuable, silver is valuable, and so are real jewels; but the teachings
of sound knowledge are more valuable than all.
Isaiah proclaimed, “How
beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings,
that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth
salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!” (Isaiah 52:7) The
proclamation of the gospel must be of utmost importance to us. When
expressing the value of wisdom, Solomon states, “Hear; for I will speak of
excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. For my
mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the
words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in
them. They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find
knowledge. Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than
choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be
desired are not to be compared to it.” (Proverbs 8:6-11) The greatest gem that
one can possess is the lips of knowledge, and a mouth that speaks the truth.
