Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 30 May 2019

Wrestling With Fear

And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him. Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands; And said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape.” (Genesis 32:6-8)

Today’s Morsel:  Many saints of God spend their entire life living in fear.  They fear what others think of them.  They fear to witness.  They fear to serve God openly.  They just seem to wake up with fear.  Paul told Timothy, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)  If fear does not come from God, then you need to realize where it’s coming from.  It is coming from the enemy of your soul.  John said that fear will torment you.  It will drive you into a deep state of emotional depression.  Jacob was afraid that his brother Esau was going to kill him.  He was so fearful that he didn’t even realize that God was with him.  Not until he took hold of God and would not let go did, he overcome his fears.  You can wrestle with fear to your own destruction, or you can learn to get a hold of God and walk by faith.  Faith always put fear on the run.  It is your choice which you hold onto, fear or faith.  I choose faith!

Sing: I’ve got Jesus on the inside, working on the outside, Oh what a change in my life.  I’ve got Jesus on the inside, working on the outside, Oh what a change in my life.  I’ve got Jesus on the inside, working on the outside, Oh what a change in my life; Oh what a change in my life.

Thought For Today: Faith always put fear on the run. (Parker)
