For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)
Today's Morsel: In our Military Chapels, if a Protestant or Apostolic Service follows the Catholic Service, they always have to switch the crosses around. Because we Apostolics believe that Jesus is no longer on the cross, they had two crosses in the front of the chapel behind a curtain with a chain to switch them around. When the Catholic's were in service, they would draw out the one with the image of Christ on it. When Apostolics where in service, they would switch them around again. It was always humorous to watch how quickly the personnel got it done based on their belief. One day I thought to myself, who cares what image is out there as long as the cross is preached and Jesus is glorified. Paul said, "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God" (1 Corinthians 1:18). Jesus is no longer on the cross. He was buried and He rose again on the third day. It's not only about the image one displays on the cross, it's about the knowledge of the cross through which we receive power.
Sing: So I'll cherish the Old Rugged Cross, till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling, to the Old Rugged Cross, and exchange it someday for a crown.
Thought for Today: It's not only about the image one displays on the cross, it's about the knowledge of the cross through which we receive power.
