We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God. For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake (1 Thessalonians 1:2-5)
Today's Morsel:If someone were to ask you what's in your Gospel what would you tell them? Paul said that some have not the knowledge of Christ, and I speak that to your shame (1 Corinthians 15:34). He told the church at Galatia, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."(Galatians 1:6-9). I ask myself, "How could someone pervert or change the gGspel of Jesus Christ. First, if they tell you that you don't need to repent and be baptized in Jesus name and have to the Holy Ghost to be saved, they are perverting the Gospel. Because neither is their salvation in any other name (Acts 4:12). Second, if they tell you that God doesn't want you to fellowship and worship with people of a different race, they are perverting the Gospel. Because God is no respecter of persons ( Acts 10:34). Third, if they tell you that Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are co-equal, co-eternal, and co-existent, they are perverting the Gospel. Because in Him, dwell all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:8-9). And fourth, if they tell you that you can do worldly things as long as you do it in moderation, they are perverting the Gospel. Because scripture says, "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God"(1 Corinthians 6:9-10). And Paul said that the Gospel didn't come in word only, but in also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance. Because the Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-3). Capital One asks, "What's in your wallet?" Well I ask you today, "What's in your Gospel?"
