There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (John 3:1-5)
Today's Morsel: Often when I am traveling, I see billboards and church marquees that say things that Jesus said in His Word. The other day I saw one that said, "That love thy brother thing, I meant it!" You know, when we read the Word of God, it's not a joke nor is it a laughing matter. God means every word that is written. Even Jesus tells us, "He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day" (John 12:48). When Jesus told Nicodemus, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God, and except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God," He meant it. God doesn't require something for one person and not another. If He did, He wouldn't be just. I've heard people say that God isn't fair. They are correct; God isn't fair, God is just. That's why He causes it to rain on the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45). You can be one of those who doesn't feel you have to be baptized in Jesus name, have to have the Holy Ghost, and live a holy and separated lifestyle from this world to enter heaven, and take your chances; or, you can obey God's word and know that you have done what He said and feel confident and ready when He calls you. None of us know the minute or the hour when He will come. The last time I checked the scriptures, God doesn't play games. He means what He says. Just ask Pharaoh.
Sing: Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power, are you washed in the Blood of the Lamb? Are your garments spotless are they white as snow, are you washed in the Blood of the Lamb?
Are you washed, in the Blood, in the soul cleansing Blood of the Lamb; are your garments spotless are they white as snow, oh be washed in the Blood of the Lamb.
