2010 August 17 - Morning Manna

Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour. (Ecclesiastes 10:1).

Today's Morsel: I hate flies. If God could have left out anything from His creation, it could have been those pesky critters. I'm sure someone is using your tax dollars to figure out their purpose for being here on the earth, and maybe someday we will know their purpose. But in the mean time, I can do without them. Solomon said that dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour. An apothecary is a person who mixes medicines or give advice in regard to medication and aliments. A pharmacist. Jesus is our chief physician. And the Holy Ghost is the anointing oil. John said, "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him" (1 John 2:27). The Holy Ghost teaches us that we must abide in Jesus. Therefore, if you are dead in your relationship with Jesus, dead in your worship and praise, dead in your walk, and dead in your faith, you are going to send forth a stench. No one is going to want to be around you nor attend your church. You were anointed for a purpose. Jesus said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord"(Luke 4:18-19). You are now the anointed ones. The Holy Ghost gives life. Excitement. Jubilation! Zeal! Pep! Vim! It's is the antidote for the troubled mind. As Paul told Timothy, "Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:6-7). If you say you're born again, remember God is not dead, He's alive!

Sing: God's not dead, He is alive. God's not dead, He is alive. God's not dead, He is alive, I can feel Him and He's keeping me alive.
