On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. (Acts 10:9-15)
Today's Morsel: The Lord's vision to Peter was a vision of His church. The vision was of things which were forbidden by the Jews to eat or partake of. But Jesus was showing Peter that His New Testament Church is and will be made up of all people, nations, kindreds, and tongues. God's church is a diverse church. And it is to be knitted together at every corner and with all people. "For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" Paul said (Colossians 2:1-3). Every person should be afforded the opportunity to hear, be taught, given understanding, and know who Jesus is. Are you doing your part?
Sing: I'm so glad that I'm a part of the family of God. I've been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His Blood. Joint heirs with Jesus, as we travel this sod; I'm so glad I'm a part of the family of God.
