2010 July 14 - Morning Manna

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe
(Proverbs 18:10).

Today's Morsel: If someone were to ask you what your name means, could you tell them? Do you know why your parents chose the name they gave you? Just what is in a name? Solomon said, "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold" (Proverbs 22:1). I have asked people to tell me who they were, and you would be surprised at the number of people who do not know who they are. I'm not asking for some theological in-depth discussion from them, I just want to know who they are. Solomon said that the name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. The apostle Paul said that it takes the Holy Ghost to understand that Jesus is Lord (1Corinthians 12:3). Do you know Him? The name "Jesus" means Jehovah Saviour, the God that saves. Isaiah said, "Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength"(Isaiah 26:4). He also said, "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation"(Isaiah 12:2). The apostle Peter, speaking to the council after the lame man was healed said, "If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved"(Acts 4:9-12). When you know Jesus, you understand that He is our refuge and our strength, our God in whom we must trust. He's our deliverer, our protector, and our fortress. Inside of the man Jesus is everything that man needs. But you have to go inside of Him to get it.

Praise JESUS!!! HIS name is wonderful. His name is most excellent. ALL POWER was given unto HIS name. The only name sent from heaven for our GOD. I know who iam, a spirit filled Jesus man, a man being conformed daily into the image of Jesus, by GOD! May Jesus richly bless you and yours! PRAISE JESUS!!!

About Morning Manna

And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God. And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat (Exodus 16:10-15).

“Morning Manna” is a short daily devotion which began in 2002, with just a short note of encouragement to a friend who was facing difficulties at the time. Through their response, I was encouraged to begin a daily devotion via email and send it to people who asked to be put on the distribution list. It is now reaching around the globe. Its birth came about during Morning Prayer. The Lord revealed to me that I should forward my friend a word of encouragement, since it is through patience and comfort of the scripture that we find hope. Thus, I forwarded him the words the Lord had given to me for him, and he forwarded it on to someone else who was having difficulties in their life as well, and thus the original list began.

The goal of “Morning Manna” is to provide people with a quick, thought provoking Word from the Lord, as well as provide encouragement from His Word that can help them through the day and during unexpected trails and circumstances in their daily lives.

Several years ago, Jesus moved on my heart to start writing daily devotions; thus began “Morning Manna”. Today, many people are receiving these daily devotions and many of these people are forwarding it on to their family and friends. It is my hope to encourage even more through posting the devotions to this blog-page.

I pray that you, too, will enjoy reading the manna from this site.
