Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 August 9

Don’t Imitate Sin

“Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.” (3 John 1:11)

Today’s Morsel: To not follow after wrong in these last days will require you to be self-disciplined, self-motivated, and possessing great self-restraint. You are going to need self-discipline to walk away from wrong, the self-motivation to encourage and pick yourself up, and the self-restraint to say no and not give in to and support the wrongs of others. Paul told the church at Rome, “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.” (Romans 6: 14-18) Sin must not control nor have dominion over you. You must learn how to control sin and keep it out of your life. Yes, it’s easy to fall into the trap of sin the same as others do. But we are called not to be like the mule and the horse, or others, which do not have an understanding. Sin, James said, when it is conceived in your life will bring forth death. So don’t err (James 1:15-16). Jesus has given you power to say no. The Holy Ghost that you say is in you, is the power within to say no, and to not imitate sin, nor allow it into your life. You have the power to walk away from sin. But will you?

Sing: Goodbye to sin and things that confound, not of this world shall turn me around. Daily I’m working and I’m praying too. Glory to God I’m going through.

He set me free, yes, He set me free. He broke the bars of prison for me. I’m glory bound my Jesus to see. Glory to God, He set me free.

Thought For Today: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
