Consider Your Ways
“Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying, Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste? Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD. Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.” (Haggai 1:3-9)
Today’s Morsel: God calls for us to consider our ways. The call was due in part that the people were forsaking the house of the Lord. They were building their own houses, but God’s house was being neglected. The place that God had chosen to place His name must be well cared for. When the things of God do not possess priority one in our life, it is easy for the things of God to be neglected. Churches can easily become a place for storage of junk and personal items. They can be turned into food and clothing pantries. They can become rat’s, bird’s, and other rodent’s homes. And so, the Lord calls for us to consider our ways. He says, Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earnest wages earnest wages to put it into a bag with holes. Thus, saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. When we continue to neglect God’s house, he will allow us to see that without Him we can do nothing. Have you considered your ways?
Sing: When you see me working, I’m working on the building, I’m going up to heaven, to get my reward, well I never get tired, working on the building, I’m going up to heaven to get my reward.
Thought For Today: “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?” (Hebrews 2:3-4)
