Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 August 7

Don’t Leave Your First Love

“Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.” (Revelation 2:1-4)

Today’s Morsel: Marriages were to be forever. Scripture says, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24) Notice, they are to become one. To leave one’s first love is to not see the value and importance of a true relationship. When we give our lives to Christ, nothing is supposed to be able to separate us from Him. We are supposed to keep Him as our first love and never allow anything, or anyone, to pull our hearts and minds away from Him. We are supposed to strengthen our relationship and love for Him more and more daily. If you allow something to come between you and Christ, it’s closer to Him than you are and it will steal your love for Him.

Sing: I love Him too much to fail Him now; Too much to break my vow. For I promised the Lord that I would make it somehow, and now I love Him too much to fail Him now.

Thought For Today: “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.” (John 15:9)
