Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 August 14

Don’t Fool Me

“He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” (1 John 2:4)

Today’s Morsel: I’m sure you hear the saying, “Fool me once, shame on you: fool me twice, I’m the fool.” The meaning is that if someone deceives you once, it’s their fault for tricking you. However, if you allow yourself to be deceived by the same person again, it’s your own fault for not learning from the first experience and being more cautious. As born-again believer, you should never be deceived repeatedly by those who say that they are Christians and even those who are not. Someone said to me one day, you are not supposed to judge people. I told them that I am not, rather that I am just a fruit inspector. I’m not going to allow someone to deceive me. Jesus said that we would know them by their fruit. John even tells us how to decern untruthful saints. He informs us that he that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (1 John 2:4) I didn’t write the book, I just obey it and follow it, because too many hearts have been broken, and folks’ anxiety and stress have increased because they allowed others to fool them.  So I don’t know about you, but I am going to know them by their fruit.

Sing: He is my everything, He is my all. He is my everything, both great and small. He gave His life for me, made everything new. He is my everything, oh, how about you?

Thought For Today: “Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.” (Ephesians 5:6)
