Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 August 18

Stay Alert

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” (1 Peter 5:6-9)

Today’s Morsel: Some folks are not alert. They have no clue to their surroundings and what is going own around them. I have heard folks on the news, when their neighbors are arrested for a crime, say, “I was totally shocked. I would have never thought that they would do such a thing, and they lived right next to me.”  When they asked Jesus about a sign, “He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?” (Matthew 16:2-3) Jesus said that folks can decern the weather, but they could not decern the time. “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.” (Romans 13:11) Paul said that now is the time to get saved. Now is time to come out of the world. Jesus is coming. The weather and events taking place around us are warning of His soon coming. The same way that Jesus criticized the Pharisees and Sadducees for their inability to understand the spiritual and prophetic significance of events that were taking place around them, we too will be criticized by Him for not understanding the events around us.  People are saying that we need miracle, wonders, and signs in the church to draw people to the church. But Jesus said to lift-up your eyes and look on the fields, for they are white and ready to harvest. We just need to get out of the building and get into the field and reap the harvest. Maybe if we were more alert to the time, we would be more eager about the harvest.

Sing: O’ my brother, are you ready for the call? To crown your Savior King and Lord of all? The kingdoms of this world shall soon before Him fall, we shall see the King when He comes.

We shall see the King, we shall see the King, we shall see the King when He comes. He’s coming in His power we’ll hail the blessed hour. We shall see the king when He come.

Thought For Today“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16)
