Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 August 15

How’s Your Behavior

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” (2 Peter 3:10-12)

Today’s Morsel: Since you have become a Christian, how would you rate your behavior? Would you say that your life has changed or is it about the same? There is this adage which says, “If nothing changes, then nothing changes.” If you say that you are a Christian, then you should have put on the new man. Paul said that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. That means that the old you ought to be gone. There shouldn’t be drinking of alcohol, smoking of drugs and other tobacco, fornication, adultery, telling of lies, gossiping, and the list goes on. The old man is supposed to be gone. Your behavior should align itself with Christ and His Word. David said, “I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.” (Psalms 101:2-3) Paul instructed Timothy: “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine…Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” (1 Timothy 4:12-13; 16) How’s your behavior? Does it align itself with Christ and His word?

Sing: To be like Jesus, to be like Jesus, on earth I long to be like Him. All through life’s journey from earth to glory, I only ask to be like Him.

Thought For Today: “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1 John 2:6)
