Victory Over The World

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4)

Today’s Morsel: Being born-again brings with it many advantages. We now, with this new life in Christ, have the power to overcome the world. What is the world? John informs us that it is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life (1 John 2:16). We now have power over these lusts and pride as these are the thing’s which drove Satan from heaven and into the world. And so, as he is the god of this world, he uses these same weapons today to destroy others. Lust of the flesh and of the eyes and pride of life are destroying many daily. Paul said that it would be divers lust in the last days, that would be used to creep into houses and lead away captive silly women laden with sin (2 Timothy 3:6). And Jesus said that it would be pride that would come out of a man to destroy him (Mark 7:20-23). But with the Holy Ghost working in and through us, we can now obtain victory over the world with its lusts and pride which have and is destroying so many. If you have the Holy Ghost, you have the power to overcome the enemy.

Sing: I’ve got the victory, over the enemy, and the world, can’t do me no harm; I’ve got the victory, over the enemy, and the world, can’t do me no harm.

Thought for Today: “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren.” (James 1:13-16)
