2014 June 30 - Morning Manna

And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions. (1 Kings 10:1)

Today's Morsel: Has anyone ever asked you a question and your reply was, "I don't know that's a hard question?"  Some people try to answer people in their intellect, and so it makes the question seemshard.  The queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's wisdom, and so she came to put him to the test, prove him with hard questions.  I wonder what she asked him?  Scripture says that he answered every one of her questions.  Questions aren't hard if we listen to what the person is saying and give them an answer based on the word of God.  You shouldn't waste your time with foolish questions though.  Remember, if we try to answer questions based on our intellect, some of them will be hard for us to answer.

Sing: Deeper, deeper, in the love of Jesus, daily let me go, higher, higher, in the school of wisdom, more of grace to know.
Deeper, yet I pray, and higher every day, and wiser blessed Lord, in Thy precious holy word.

Thought For Today: "Wisdom is better than weapons of war?"

2014 June 28 - Morning Manna

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. (Jeremiah 2:13)

Today's Morsel: One thing is for sure, a fish out of water is sure to die.  We are like fish, and Jesus is the water.  As long as we abide in Him, we live.  But as soon as we get out of  Him, we die.  The Lord said "For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water" (Jeremiah 2:13).  If a fish cannot survive without water, don't think you can survive without Christ.

Sing: Just be close to You! Just to be close to You! Just to be close to You, is my desire; Just be close to You! Just to be close to You! Just to be close to You, is my desire; Just be close to You! Just to be close to You! Just to be close to You, is my desire; Just be close to You! Just to be close to You! Just to be close to You, is my desire; Just be close to You! Just to be close to You! Just to be close to You, is my desire.

Thought For Today: "Don't be a fish out of water,  or you will die!"

2014 June 27 - Morning Manna

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.   (Acts 2:37-42)

Today's Morsel:  I have had to make some major decisions in my life and I'm sure that you have, too. Some of them were pretty easy, but then there were those that you get that questionable feeling within. Should I or shouldn't I?  But the one major decision that all of us have to someday make, if we haven't already done so, is the one about our salvation, and that is the only one that really matters in the grand scheme of things. "For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.  (2 Corinthians 6:2)."  Have you considered this decision?  What did you decide?

Sing: I know I'm saved and I'm so glad about it, I found the joy my spirit craved.  It is so real, that I could never doubt it, oh praise the Lord, I know I'm saved.

Thought For Today: " Have you considered eternity lately?"

2014 June 26 - Morning Manna

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (John 15:5)

Today's Morsel: Are you aware that trying to make it without Jesus is vanity?   But sad to say, many people are trying to make it without Him. Those who try to make it without Him often realize at the end of the day just how tried they are, they feel no sense of accomplishment, they have probably complained over one hundred times during the day, and yelled at their children or spouse or someone else because they were stressed or tried.  I'm no rocket scientist nor am I an Einstein, but if Jesus says that I can't do anything without Him, I'm not even going to try.

Sing: Jesus hold my hand, Lord I need Thee every hour, though this pilgrim land, protect me by Thy saving power, hear my feeble plea, oh Lord, look down on me, when I kneel in prayer, I know I'll meet You there, blessed Jesus hold my hand.

Thought For Today: "Trying to make it without Jesus is vanity"

2014 June 25 - Morning Manna

Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.
(Jeremiah 25:7)

Today's Morsel: If you were to do an evaluation of  all the bad things taking place in your life, how much of it would you say was caused by you?  I've come to realize that many people create their own hurt the same way the Lord told Jeremiah.  They get involved with people without first checking and observing peoples' character, they make decisions without conferring with their pastor, mentor, or God's word, before diving headlong into major purchases or relocation, and many of them keep charging on their credit cards not realizing that payments are going to come due.  The Lord said through Jeremiah that the people had not harkened to Him but provoked Him to anger by their works which brought hurt to themselves (my wording). Let me encourage you, check your actions and the things you are about to do to ensure that they are going to be well pleasing to God.  If not, it may bring you hurt.

Sing: Does He still feel the nails, every time I fail, can He hear the crowd cry "Crucify again"?   Am I causing You pain, then I know I've got to change, I never want to hurt You again.

Thought for Today: "Don't create your own hurt"

2014 June 24 - Morning Manna

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:32)

Today's Morsel:  The only way you can know truth from error, is to know truth in the first place.  The only way you can tell that a stick is crooked is to put a straight stick beside it.   It has been stated that the FBI doesn't train its agents to know false bills, it teaches them to know the real bills.  And once they know the real bills, they can easily spot the fake bills.  The only way you can know false religion from true religion is to know The Truth.  Just because a church has a sign that you may think is truth, Truth says that we are to try the spirits.  Even Jesus said, that we are to search the scriptures for they are about Him, the truth.  Truth never changes, but error will keep changing and changing trying to please all.  Truth just simply says, here I am, take me or leave me, I'm not changing.

Sing: He set me free yes, He set me free, He broke the bars of prison for me.  I'm glory bound my Jesus to see, glory to God, He set me free.

2014 June 23 - Morning Manna

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. (Psalms 37:25)

Today's Morsel:  When God created the world, He put everything here that we would need to survive.  God did not create us to beg nor to be beggars.  Usually, the reason people are homeless and out begging is because they desire to be that way.  They refuse to take what is available to them.  You can work a minimum wage job and still keep food on your table.  You can give me all the excuses you want, no man should have to beg for food or survival.  The problem is that man has broken his relationship with God.  "For without me you can do nothing," saith the Lord.  Any man who finds himself begging needs to check his relationship with his Creator. "For I know the things you have need of," saith the Lord.

Sing: You may be down today, but help is on the way, dark clouds may dim your skies, but He'll answer you by and by, He'll drive away, all your tears, for I know cause He's been with me down through the years, and I've never seen the righteous forsaken, nor His seed begging for bread.

2014 June 21 - Morning Manna

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.   (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

Today's Morsel: This scripture is also spoken by the apostle Paul to the church at Colossi.  He told them, "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ" (Colossians 3:23-24).  Therefore, being told by the wisest man in the world, King Solomon, and probably the best preacher in the world, Paul, how much effort and energy do you put into what you are doing or what is being asked of you to do?  What kind of job is your employer receiving from you?  Are you taking shortcuts because you are lazy?  Are you shirking your responsibilities because it's not your business?  Are you doing just enough to keep you from getting fired?  Usually the people who are let go from a job first are those who have done nothing before their employer or supervisor that would make that supervisor go to bat for them when there is a need to cut people or reduce employees.  Ask yourself, if the place you worked was yours, what kind of productivity would you want from your workers?  Are you giving that type of productivity?  Jesus told us that we should do unto others as we would have them do unto us.  Every job or task that you are given should receive your very best.  You really do feel good about yourself when you have given it your best.

Sing: Lord, prepare me, to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true; with thanks giving, I'll be a living, sanctuary for You.

2014 June 20 - Morning Manna

And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.   (Luke 17:26-30)

Today's Morsel:  Habits are formed by doing the same thing over and over again.  Some habits are good, while others are not.  Everyone is trying to figure out when Jesus is going to return.  Many are looking at current events of the world, and trying to correlate them to the Bible to see if they can figure out Jesus' return.  Sorry if you are one of those that have this habit, but it is not going to happen by you knowing it.  Jesus said that no man knows the minute nor the hour that the Son of man shall return.  Not even the angels in heaven.  I believe that is because He wants us to walk continually by faith all the days of our lives and to not think we can get ready at the last minute.  Jesus said that as it was in the days of both Noah and Lot, it will be the same when He comes again.  People will be eating, drinking, marrying, buying, selling, planting, and building. Sounds like what is going on today, the world is in this habit.  I don't know about you, but I don't have the time to try and figure out when He's coming again, I need my time to be spent preparing for it.  So my question to you is simple:  Are you ready for His return?

Sing: Oh my brother are you ready for the call, to crown your Savior King and Lord of all? The kingdoms of this world, shall soon before Him fall, we shall see the King when He come.
We shall see the King! We shall see the King! We shall see the King when He comes. He's coming in His power, we'll hail the blessed hour, we shall see the King when He comes.

2014 June 19 - Morning Manna

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:11)

Today's Morsel:  Would you be surprised if you saw the dead raised to life again?  You shouldn't be, because if you are born again, every day that you look and see yourself in the mirror it should be a reminder to you that you who were dead in your trespasses and sins, He hath quickened together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved).  As long as we were in our sins, we were dead.   We were absent from the commonwealth of Christ.  But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, has given unto us newness of life.   Therefore, we should be dead to sin, but alive unto God by Jesus Christ.  The next time you look in the mirror, just say to yourself, "Dead man walking!"

Sing: Alive! Alive ! Alive forevermore, my Jesus is alive, alive forevermore.  Alive! Alive ! Alive forevermore, my Jesus is alive.  Sing hallelujah! Sing hallelujah! My Jesus is alive, alive forevermore.  Sing hallelujah! Sing hallelujah! My Jesus is alive.

2014 June 18 - Morning Manna

And they brought up the ark of the LORD, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring up. And king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled unto him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude. And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims. For the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above. And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy place before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day. There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt. (1 Kings 8:4-9)

Today's Morsel: I'm sure many of  you have seen movies where the thief steals the items that are valuable from its container or safe and when the owners or bankers arrive the next morning and the items are gone they are perplexed and confused.  Well, think about that for a moment and reread what had happened to the ark of the covenant when they brought it in to the new house that Solomon had built for it.  There was nothing in the inside the ark but the two tables of stones, the word of God.  Aaron's rod, and the pot of manna were missing.  Who moved them since, if anyone touched the ark they died?  So who moved them?  I believe that God removed them.  And He removed them for a sign to let us know that as long as we have the word of God and obey it, it will be all that we need to lead us and sustain us.

Sing: He's all I need. He's all I need! Jesus is all I need. He satisfies, your need supplies, Jesus is all I need.

2014 June 17 - Morning Manna

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:28-31)

Today's Morsel: How many of you have read the book, "If God Be For Us, Who Can Be Against Us?" Most people struggles in their lives are due to a lack of knowledge as to Who is on their side.  When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow to the king's image, they were saying, "We know who is for us."  I hear people all the time quote the scripture, " I'll never leave you nor forsake thee," but few trust God enough to believe it.  As the Lord said through the prophet Isaiah,  "Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God" (Isaiah 43:10-12).   Notice, God chose you so that you would believe that He was God, not someone else.  And once you have that knowledge, then you can share with others the same truth.  The only way you will ever believe that He is for you, is when you learn who He is.
(For a copy of the referenced book, see below and order your copy)

Sing: When I wake up in the land of glory, with the saints and I will tell my story, there will be one name that I'll proclaim.
When I wake up in the land of glory, with the saints and I will tell my story, there will be one name that I'll proclaim.
Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Just that name.

2014 June 16 - Morning Manna

Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. (2 Corinthians 4:1-5)

Today's Morsel: I often wonder what the church could really become if every born again believer would find their ministry and give themselves holy to it.  Paul told the church at Rome, "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness" (Romans 12:3-8).  God expects us to use our faith and do something with it.  If we all did our part, the church would flourish the way that Jesus wants it to.  Do you know what Jesus has chosen you to do? Well, your number one ministry is to share the gospel with everyone; both saint and sinner alike.  And second, it is to be an encourager to others.  As we encourage others, we too will be encouraged.

Sing: God's got an army, marching through the land, deliverance is their song, there's healing in their hand, with everlasting joy and gladness in their hearts, well in this army I've got a part.

2014 June 14 - Morning Manna

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4)

Today's Morsel: One of the best ways to overcome something is face it head on.  The way you face fear is to take it head on.  When I was a kid, we lived on a farm and we grew tobacco.  After each week's harvest, at the end of the day, we would have to hang the tobacco in a barn that was at least 20-25 feet high.  And it always took two men to do it.  When I was about 14 or 15 years old, my dad always kept me on the bottom tier (which was at least 6 to 8 feet off the ground) so that if I fell off my tier, I would only fall about 6 to 8 feet to the ground.  But once I had the knowledge of what I was doing and how to do it, he put me up top.  And now if I fell, it would be anywhere from 20 to 25 feet to the ground.  And so I learned very quickly how to overcome my fear of heights.  When we are born of God, John said, we overcome the world.  Because our faith is no longer in others or ourselves, but in Christ, we can conquer the fear of this world and what it can do to us.  I'm not afraid to take the world head on because it no longer has a hold on me.  The earth is His footstool, Jesus said.  And that is where I have Satan, he's right under my feet.  He under Jesus' feet, every time you stand up, it should be a reminder to you, that he (Satan) and this world are under your feet as well.  Are you an overcomer?

Sing: O' victory in Jesus, My Savior forever, He sought me and He brought me with His redeeming Blood.  He loved me ere I knew Him and all my love is due Him, He plunged me to victory, beneath the cleansing flood.

2014 June 13 - Morning Manna

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. (Mark 1:35)

Today's Morsel:  In the military, soldiers are taught that all marching movements from the halt must begin by stepping off on their left foot first.  The only exception is right step march.  Often, some members will get out of step while they are marching and need to skip until they get back into step.  I believe some members of the church are out of step.  Many of them are out of step when it comes to prayer.  So many of them are putting the wrong foot forward when they get up.  They put that foot forward that heads to the coffee pot, Iphone, or IPad, instead of I-pray. Jesus rose early and went out and prayed.   If you don't begin your day with prayer, you are going to be out of step with Jesus.

Sing:  I'm a soldier, in God's Army, and I'm fighting, I'm claiming victory; I will not give up, I will not turn around, I'm a soldier marching heaven bound.

2014 June 12 - Morning Manna

Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.  (Isaiah 45:11)

Today's Morsel:  I asked my wife a few days ago, what she thought La Crosse, the place we now live, would be like if the Lord should tarry for another thousand years?  Do these questions ever cross your mind?  The Lord said that we should ask Him concerning my sons.  As a matter of fact, He said that we should command Him concerning the work if His hand, the things that He has made.  Peter said, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat" (2 Peter 3:9-12).  Peter lets us know that where we are right now is someday going to be burned up and none of us knows when.  And since none knows when and I don't like to be burned, I think I'll do everything I can to remain smoke free.

Sing: O' my brother are you ready for the call, to crown your Savior King, and Lord of all. The kingdom of this world, shall soon before Him fall, we shall see the King when He comes.

2014 June 11 - Morning Manna

Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high, Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth! (Psalms 113:5-6)

Today's Morsel: If someone were to ask you to compare God to something else, what would you say?  This is not a new question.  Even the Lord asked, "To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One" (Isaiah 40:25).  We can't compare God to anyone or anything.  You cannot make Him co-equal, co-eternal,  nor co-existence with anyone.   God has no comparison.  Paul lets us know that the fullness of the Godhead was in Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:8-9).  If you want to compare God, you have to compare Him to the things that He says about Himself: "I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things" (Isaiah 45:5-7).

Sing: There is none like You, no one else can touch my heart like You do, I can search throughout eternity long, and find, there is none like You.

2014 June 10 - Morning Manna

Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD. Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD'S name is to be praised. (Psalms 113:1-3)

Today's Morsel: I am of a firm believer, that the first three things that go from a person's life before they backslide are: 1. Prayer, 2. Praise, 3. Spirit of Forgiveness.  When a person loses their commitment to pray on a daily basis, they no longer see the value to talk with God and carry their concerns to Him, nor do they see the value to intercede for themselves, their family, and others.  And when there is no prayer, they will not see the need to offer thanksgiving and praise to God for the things that He does for them and others; which leads to an unforgiving spirit.   When we do not have a consistent prayer and praise life, we will not understand to forgive others when they do or say things, that we may not like.  And when these things are absent in a life, that life will walk away from God.

Sing: This is the day! This is the day, that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made, I will rejoice, I will rejoice, and be glad in it, and be glad in it.  This is the day, that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. This is the day! This is the day, that the Lord has made.

2014 June 9 - Morning Manna

Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.  (Psalms 119:18)

Today's Morsel: So many people seem to hate laws. The reason being is that they see laws as someone trying to tell them what to do.  But really, laws are for our protection.  I think of my accident last December, of what could have happened to me if I had not followed the law to wear my seat belt.  I don't think I would be writing this if I had not followed that law.   I'm sure there are many people suffering today because they failed to obey a law that was given.  I've seen people walk away from the church because they felt that someone was trying to tell them what they could and could not do.  But some of those same people's lives are so soon turned upside down because they left and did not heed the law that the church was trying to teach them from God's word.  God's law to the children of Israel was for their protection.  But they failed to obey it, they rejected it, and it cost many of them their lives.  The Psalmist prayed, "Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law."  When is the last time you prayed for God to open your eyes so you could see the wondrous things in His law?  Remember, the law had one goal, to bring us to Christ and that hasn't changed.

Sing:  The Law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimonies of the Lord are sure, making wise the simple; more to be desired are they than gold, yeah much fine gold; sweeter also than the honey, and the honeycomb.

2014 June 7 - Morning Manna

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:15-16)

Today's Morsel: " Please watch your step!" "Caution, slippery when wet!" "No running in the hall!"  Isn't it amazing that most people will obey some warning signs, but not the warning signs that come from God's word?  God's word is filled with warning of how we should walk.  Paul's warning to the church, was that we should walk cautiously and careful because the days are evil.  You don't have to look very far to see that these are evil times that we are now living in.  Therefore, we must ensure that the path we are on is not filled with booby traps, pungi pits, or a path that will ensnare us, and cause us to fall from our eternal salvation. We need the light of God's word to guide us both day and night.  Remember, the enemy is always setting traps, but Jesus has given us a light for our pathway (Psalms 119:105).

Sing: As I travel through this pilgrim land there is a friend who walks with me, leads me safely through the sinking sand, it is the Christ of Calvary; This would be my prayer, dear Lord, each day to help me do the best I can, for I need Thy light to guide me day and night, blessed Jesus, hold my hand.
Chorus: Jesus! hold my hand, Lord I need Thee every hour, Through this pilgrim land, protect me by Thy saving power; Hear my feeble plea, O Lord, look down on me, When I kneel in prayer I hope to meet you there, Blessed Jesus hold my hand.

2014 June 6 - Morning Manna

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:1-4)

Today's Morsel: The Invasion of Normandy, France, by the Allied Forces of Britain, America, Canada, and France on June 6, 1944, to attack German forces on the coast of Normandy, France is called D-Day.  With a huge force of over 150,000 soldiers, the allies attacked and gained a victory that became the turning point for World War II in Europe.
But there was another day that is also called D-Day, and that day was the Day of Pentecost.  The Holy Ghost was poured out upon the 120 believers in Jerusalem.  It was the day the New Testament Church was established.  And they went forth preaching the word everywhere with signs following setting the captives free.

Sing: This is the day, this is the day that the Lord hath made, that the Lord hath made; I will rejoice, I will rejoice and be glad in it, and be glad in it.  This is the day that the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.  This is the day, this is the day that the Lord hath made.

2014 June 5 - Morning Manna

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. (2 Corinthians 10:3-6)

Today's Morsel: A few weeks ago, I preached a message about controlling our thoughts.  It is amazing the number of people who suffer from wrong and evil thoughts.  As I was studying, I felt the Lord speak to me that most people do not understand that His word is also given to us to be used as a sifter to help us sift out evil thoughts that may come into our life through our senses (sight, hearing, smell, taste, feel).  Thoughts are first presented to us through our senses, and if we accept them, whether good or evil.  They will grow in our minds if we retain them.  And once they grow, the can become strongholds.   Therefore, we should ensure that every thought is filtered through the Word of God.  "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God..." (1 John 4:1).  I think it might be time we start bringing our thoughts into the obedience of Christ.  How's your sifter working today?

Sing: Sweet peace abides within my heart, under the blood, under the blood; and gifts divine their joy impart, under the precious blood.
Under the blood, the precious blood, under the cleansing healing flood; keep me, Savior, from day to day, under the precious blood.

2014 June 4 - Morning Manna

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:1)

Today's Morsel: Who are you following today?  Are they on the right course that will save your soul?  Are they following Christ?  Who's your mentor?  So many people are following people that they have no knowledge of.  Each year, we all vote people into office to lead us yet we have little or no knowledge of them at all.  Even in the church we select people without even a bio or recommendation from the leaders over them.  Shouldn't we at least have some knowledge of what a person has done for the Kingdom and their character reference? May I suggest, before you vote someone into an office or leadership position you learn something about their character.  As Paul told the church at Corinth, "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ."
Sing: Lead me Lord, I will follow, lead me Lord, I will go, You have called me, I will answer, lead me Lord, I will go.

2014 June 3 - Morning Manna

Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. (John 7:6)

Today's Morsel: I always observe my wife when she is preparing for a trip or a meeting she has to attend.  She usually starts packing 2 to 3 days in advance, or she may start deciding what she is taking a week or more ahead.  Sad to say, many people have not considered that final journey from earth.   Jesus said that our time is always ready.  If our time is always ready, I don't plan on missing the train; I have begun preparing for the trip now.

Sing:  Some glad morning we shall see Jesus in the air, He's coming after you and me, joy is ours to share; what rejoicing there will be when the saints shall rise, heading for that jubilee, yonder in the skies.
O' what singing, O, what shouting; on that happy morning when we all shall rise; O, what glory, Hallelujah! When we meet our blessed Savior in the skies.

2014 June 2 - Morning Manna

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. (1 Timothy 4:12-16)

Today's Morsel: One of the jobs I held in the Army was working in the Department of Evaluation and Standardization at the US. Army Quartermaster Center and School. Our goal was to ensure that all army logistic units; active, reserve, and guard; were training and maintaining the standard according to established army doctrine.  I often wonder why we don't have such a department in the church.  Whether we like it or not, Jesus is going to judge us when He returns based on the doctrine.  If you read Paul's letters to the church, he was adamant about holding to the doctrine.  He told the church at Rome, "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them" (Romans 16:17).  He told Timothy, "As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine" (1 Timothy 1:3); All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine..(2 Timothy 3:16).  He told Titus, "But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine"(Titus 2:1). And, "Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me"(John 7:16).  I think when Jesus comes again, we are going to be judged based on doctrine not denomination.

Sing: He leadeth me! He leadeth me! By His Own hand, He leadeth me; His faithful follower I will be, for by His hand He leadeth me.
