The Will of God
“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves. Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
(1 Thessalonians 5:11-18)
Today’s Morsel: I have had
people ask me, "How do you know what the will of God is for your
life?" Well first, Peter tells us, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9);
Paul tells us, “ For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should
abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his
vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as
the Gentiles which know not God: That no man
go beyond and defraud his brother in any
matter: because that the Lord is the
avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. For God hath
not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth,
despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit. But as
touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves
are taught of God to love one another. And indeed ye do it toward all the
brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye
increase more and more; And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own
business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; That ye may
walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of
nothing.”
(1 Thessalonians 4:3-12)
Micah informs us, “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is
good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love
mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8) For this is the will of God, that you should be always filled with joy; that you should ever be in the spirit of prayer; and that you should profit by every occurrence in life, and be continually grateful
and obedient; for gratitude and obedience are inseparably connected. The giving of
thanks, which is the revealed and declared will of
God, is a part of that good, perfect, and acceptable will of God, and what is well pleasing in His sight, and is
grateful to Him. “I will praise the name of God with a song, the psalmist said, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.” (Psalms 69:30) Therefore,
my answer to the question is that the will of God will never take you any
place, or cause you to do anything, that the grace of God will not keep you in.
Sing: Thanks, Thanks, I give you
thanks, for all You have done. I am so blessed, my soul has found rest,
O’ Lord, I give You thanks.
Thought For Today: “The will of God
will never take you any place, or cause you to do anything, that the grace of
God will not keep you.”
