Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 23 October 2021

 Seeking For Salvation

Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.

(Psalms 54:1)

Today’s Morsel:  There are many people who are looking for salvation and vindication, but they really don’t know where to find it.  Paul states, “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.(2 Corinthians 4:3-4)  What are you doing to help people find the way?  Are you being moved with compassion when you see people around you?  Are you moved with compassion when you see what is taking place in this world?  Are you moved with compassion when you hear of someone committing suicide?  Are you moved with compassion when you hear that someone has been diagnosed with Covid19?  What triggers your compassion button?  People may not be standing in the street yelling at the top of their voices, "Someone save me;  Someone help me.,"  But their actions are screaming louder than their words ever could.  David cried, save me by your name and judge me by thy strength.  This name would imply all power and benevolence that was necessary to secure his salvation or safety and to vindicate him Peter informs us, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.(Acts 4:12) The only saving name is Jesus Christ.  Which means Jehovah is salvation.  And David's request was to judge him by God's strength and to vindicate him by His power; like as a judge sitting on the bench who has the power to vindicate a sentence or impose it.  As Jesus said, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth”  (Matthew 28:18).  If you really want to be saved and vindicated, come to Jesus for He is ready to save and to make you free.

Sing:  Who is this who loves a sinner as a father loves his own, weeping over those who spurn his gentle plea?  Always ready to forgive them and to make forgiveness known; Who is this forever calling you and me?

It is Jesus, Jesus, sad one’s weep no more.  He will heal the brokenhearted; open wide the prison doors; He is able to deliver evermore.

Thought For Today: “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
