Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
Today's Morsel: How much time of your day would you say that you give to study? Not only the word of God, but other things as well. Most people find that it is essential for them to apply part of their time in study so that they can be successful in whatever they are doing while others do not. One of the most effective witnesses for God is a person who knows what God's word says, they have the wisdom and knowledge of how it applies to current situations and circumstances, and they know when to open their mouths to use it. I am amazed at the number of people who say that they are Christians but do not possess the wisdom of God's word. Paul says that the sword of the Spirit is the word of God (Ephesians 6:18). It is both an offensive and a defensive weapon. If used wrong, it can kill someone. If used right, it can save. It also has the ability to defend and protect you. We must study it so that we know how and when to use it. Here are a few questions to determine if you need more study of God's word.
1. What scriptures tell you how to handle disagreements with each other?
2. What scriptures tell a husband and wife how to live?
3. What scriptures tell fathers how to rear their children?
4. What scriptures tell you how to avoid the lust of the flesh?
5. What scriptures tell you what is the whole duty of man?
I will put the answers in tomorrow's Manna.
We must study God's word, because it will keep us on the right track and will lead us to heaven.
Sing: O' deeper yet, I pray, and higher every day, and wiser blessed Lord, in Thy precious holy word.
Thought for Today: Any man who does not know the word of God is too far from his creator. (Parker)
