2013 December 28 - Morning Manna

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not, And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full; Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage."(Deuteronomy 6:4-12)

Today's Morsel: Each morning, as my wife and I are doing our devotions and I begin to read, it's amazing to me the number of times in scriptures that there are mentions of what the Lord did for His people, and yet, they still did not reverence Him, respect Him, or give Him thanks for the things that He had done for them.  Sad to say, the same holds true today. Folks just don't seem to reverence God for what He does for them on a daily basis. The Psalmist said that we should give thanks unto the Lord for He is good.  For His mercy endures forever (Psalms 136:1).  Moses had told them that once they came into the Land of Promise they were to not forget God.  They were to teach and to show their families and next generations the things the Lord had done for them.  But they did not and they served other gods.   And today, people are receiving the promise of the Holy Ghost, yet they forget what God has done for them and they head off and serve other gods.  Always remember, if you forget God when things are going good for you, you won't be able to find Him when things are going bad for you unless you have a broken and spirit and a broken and contrite heart; because that is the only thing He will not despise.

Sing:  Thank you Lord, for saving my soul.  Thank you Lord for making me whole.  Thank you Lord for giving to me, Thy great salvation so rich and free.
