2013 December 7 - Morning Manna

And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them: And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly."
(Job 1:13-22)

Today's Morsel:   Today, December 7, marks 72 years ago that the Japanese Forces attacked the U.S. Forces on Pearl Harbor.  The surprise attack on the Island caused many lives to be lost and much destruction.  Today, many still visit the island and tour the battle sight.  President Truman said that the day would be a day that would live on in infamy.  In other words, this would be a day that would be seen as shameful and a criminal act of conduct and character; a publically known infamous act.

Job's attack by the enemy of his soul came as a complete surprise.  It took Job told by total surprise.  This attack on his life would become a day of infamy in the land of UZ.  Often around the globe and in the church, members are told of what Satan did to Job. Many are told of this public known infamous act by our ruthless enemy, Satan himself.  Jesus said that Satan has one purpose, and that is to steal, kill, and to destroy.  He has not stopped his surprise attacks against the church and saints of God.  The attack on Pearl Harbor placed the U.S. military on alert to always be watchful and vigilant against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.  The same must be true for the child of God.  We must always be watchful and alert to the enemy of our souls.  Job's story isn't just a story of how he overcome, it is a story for the child of God to be watchful and vigilant.  "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world" (1 Peter 5:8-9).

Sing: Satan's like a roaring lion, walking to and fro, seeking whom he may devour the Bible tells me so. Many souls have been his prey to fall in some weak hour, but God has promised us today, His overcoming power.
Greater is He that is in me!  Greater is He that is in me! Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.
