2013 January 1 - Morning Manna

And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over. And it came to pass after three days, that the officers went through the host; And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it. Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore. (Joshua 3:1-4)
Today's Morsel: Where has time gone? Here it is 2013, and it just seemed like yesterday that I was sitting in school learning to add and color inside the lines. And yes, I will be 62 this year. WOW! Someone said that once you reach 50 you start downhill and you always pick up speed going downhill!!
The children of Israel had been in captivity for over 400 years. They had a promise of God's deliverance for them. Joseph had told them that God would deliver them and when He did, to not forget his bones. After forty years in the wilderness being purged of their worldly ways, it was now time for them to receive what God had told them He would do. And so Joshua told the people, "When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it. Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore." He said, you are about to go into a place you have never been before so keep your eyes on the ark. Let me encourage you today, you are coming into a year that you have not seen before, so keep your eyes on the ark. The ark represents Jesus. It represents the church. As long as you keep your eyes on Jesus and stay in the church, nothing will stop you from being able to enjoy the promises of God.
Sing: Standing on the promises of Christ my King, through eternal ages let His praise ring, glory in the highest I will shout and sing, I'm standing on the promises of God.
Standing! Standing! Standing on the promises of Christ my Savior. Standing! Standing! I'm standing on the promises of God.
