2013 January 18 - Morning Manna

And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day. (Genesis 1:9-13)

Today's Morsel: I can remember once that my mom had to do a fund raiser in the Methodist church that I grew up in.  For her fund raiser, she chose oranges with lots of seeds in them. The person would take an orange, and for every seed that they found inside the orange, they were to pay a nickel (five cents). Needless to say, she did quite well.  I love fruit.  No matter the kind it is, to me it is all good.  When God created the fruit tree, He said that the seed is in itself after his kind.  Notice, the seed is inside of itself after his kind.  Jesus said that the seed is the Word of God ( Luke 8:11).  And John said, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth" (John 1:14).  And so, once you are filled with the Spirit of God, which is the Holy Ghost, the seed is within you and you are to reproduce after your kind. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law" (Galatians 5:22-23).  An apple tree isn't going to reproduce an orange.  Jesus said, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them"  (Matthew 7:15-20).  If you say that you are born again and are a Christian and your life does not show forth the fruit of the Spirit, you are of the wrong tree.

Sing: To be like Jesus! To be like Jesus! On earth I long, to be like Him. All through life's journey, from earth to glory, I only ask, to be like Him.
