Walking With God
“And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” (Genesis 5:21-24)
Today’s Morsel: In the genealogy of scripture, we don’t read much about Enoch’s life other than who his father was. Nothing is known much of his character other then he walked with God for three-hundred years and God took him. His life must have been inspiring and well pleasing, since the writer of Hebrews tells us: “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” (Hebrews 11:5) There was something that captivated Enoch to follow and to do what God had said. Does your walk talk louder than your talk walks? John tells us: “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1 John 2:6) Some folks struggle with their walk with God and desire to return to their old way of life. But it’s not hard to walk with God. The question becomes how much do you love Him? You may just need an attitude adjustment. In other words, simply make up your mind. The same way that we decide if we are going to do other things, that is the same mindset we must have for walking and serving God. If you never make up your mind to walk like Him, it will be hard. But if you choose to walk with Him, and serve Him, it will be a whole lot easier.
Sing: Let me walk with You Jesus, don’t ever leave me alone; for without You I could never, no never, make heaven my home.
