Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 January 21

My Expectation is From God

“My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.” (Psalms 62:5-8)

Today’s Morsel: How much do you believe and trust in God? One of the things we learn from scripture is that folks will disappoint you. They will turn on you, and even let you do what is in their best interest. They will sometimes sell you out if it will make them look good. Scripture tells us: “Most men will proclaim everyone his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?” (Proverbs 20:6) The psalmist states that his expectation is from God. When we keep God is His rightful place and put our trust in Him, we aren’t likely to be disappointed. Paul tells us: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)Whatever we have need of we must take it to Jesus. Solomon states: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5) What are your expectations from God? Do you believe that He will come through for you? The writer of Hebrews tells us, “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.” (Hebrews 10:35-37) If we take it to Jesus, then we must be willing to wait on Him to respond. We can be confident that He will.

Sing: They that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles.  They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.  Teach me Lord, teach me Lord, to wait.
