Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 16 May 2020

How Much Does God Love You?
“For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.”
(Hebrews 12:6-11)

Today’s Morsel: I have come to realize through scripture that in order to receive directions from God, we must be willing to accept corrections from God.  A lot of folks like to talk about God, and how much they love Him, but not too many of them like Him to correct them when they are wrong.  Scripture says, "Now no chastening for the present seem to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby."  Correction is to bring about right to those who do wrong since there is no need for correction for those who are doing right.  If you ever feel a strong chastisement from God or those over you, just know that it is because they love you.

Sing:  He knew me, yet He loved me, He whose glory makes the heavens shine.  I’m so unworthy of such mercy, yet when He was on the cross, I was on His mind.

Thought For Today:  In order to receive direction from God, you must be willing to accept correction from God.
