Seizing the Opportunity
“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men,
especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:10)
Today’s Morsel: One of the
things about the month of December is that it often opens the door for us to do
good. We may give in to the Salvation Army Red Kettles. We may purchase a gift
for our kids or grandkids. We may give a donation to a shelter or orphanage. We
may deliver meals for those who are shut-in. These are opportunities that are
more available to us during this time of year. But what about those who
are of the household of faith? What about those in the church? What about the
widow, widowers, or orphans in the church? Have you considered how you might
have them into your home during this holiday season? Have you considered a gift
for them? Have you considered their favorite meal? What about getting something
nice for someone else in the church? Have you considered giving a gift to
Christmas for Christ so that more churches can be planted, and the gospel can
be preached to the lost? Opportunities may only knock once, so don’t miss your
opportunity. Give generously all year long, and especially so during this
time when others receive so freely.
Sing: Give and it shall be given, good
measure pressed down shaken together and running over; give and it shall be
given, when you give, you give to the Lord.
Thought For Today: Opportunity usually
only knocks once.
