When Did You Start Doubting?

But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

(Matthew 14:24-33)

Today’s Morsel:  One of the dangers of walking by sight instead of our faith is that it can cause us to doubt.  When Eve encountered her conversation with Satan in the garden, Satan caused her to doubt what God had told them as being true.  I have seen many people who for unknown reasons, they live their lives just like the Bible says to do, and then suddenly they start doubting what God says in His word to be true.  Many of them have taught others that the Bible was true, but now, for some unknown reason, they question if what is written is true.  When Peter asked Jesus to bid him come unto him on the water, Jesus told him to come.  Peter started to walk on the water but then he started to doubt.  Jesus asked him why did he doubt?  In other words, why did you stop believing in your ability to do what you were doing?  Isn’t it amazing that the apostle Thomas went down in history as being called doubting Thomas, just because He wasn't there when Jesus came the first time?  Why couldn’t he believe the others that Jesus had risen?  The only way that you can prevent yourself from being called a Doubting Thomas, is to mix the word of God with your faith when you hear it, do it, and believe it.

Sing:  I believe God, I believe God, that He will do just as He said.  Trust and obey, believe Him, and say, "I believe, I believe God."

Thought For Today: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.(Hebrews 11:6)
