Judgment
“Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye
shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you
again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but
considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy
brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in
thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye;
and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.” (Matthew 7:1-5)
Today’s
Morsel: Martin Luther King, Jr. said that he looked
for the day when men would be judged not based upon the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
Jesus said that with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with
what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. I am of the firm
belief that every church should be multiracial and multicultural. Especially in today’s
world. If we judge people based on the color of their skin,
we will be judged by the same method. Jesus is not going to judge you
when you stand before Him based on the color of your skin. He is going to
judge you based on your character and obedience to His word. If we reject
people because of their skin color, prepare for Jesus to reject us for our
prejudice and bias. James informs us, “ If ye fulfil the royal law
according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do
well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of
the law as transgressors.”
(James 2:8-9) Sinners will not enter there. In
your church, how many people are you friends with that do not look like you?
Sing: You’re my brother, you’re my
sister, so take me by the hand, together we will work until He comes.
There's no foe that can defeat us when we're walking side by side, as long as
there is love we can stand.
Thought For Today: The church is more beautiful
when we judge based on character.
