No Understanding
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I
will guide thee with mine eye. Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which
have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest
they come near unto thee. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth
in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about. Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice,
ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.” (Psalms 32:8-11)
Today’s Morsel: Why does it
seem that so many people do not have an understanding? How can so many
people who have bachelors, masters, and PhD and doctorate degrees have no
understanding when it comes to right versus wrong? “For my people is foolish,
they have not known me; they are
sottish children, and they have no understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have
no knowledge”
saith the Lord (Jeremiah 4:22). Have my
people no knowledge? Have they no understanding, saith the Lord. This
is not an attack on education, it is a wakeup call for character. The
Lord said that He would teach us and show us the way that we should go.
We must not be like the horse and the mule that have no understanding.
Wise men must lay up knowledge. The Apostles Paul states, “Moreover,
brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were
under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto
Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And
did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock
that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.” (1 Corinthians 10:1-4)
David asked, “For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? It
is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect” (Psalms
18:31-32). And the Apostle Peter admonishes us, “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is
with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is
not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is
longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all
should come to repentance.” (2 Peter
3:8-9)
Do you understand God’s ways? It is wonderful to have an education, but
we must have Godly understanding and wisdom to go with it.
Sing: By and by when the morning
comes, and all the saints of God are gathering home, we will tell the story how
we've overcome, and we'll understand it better by and by.
Thought For Today: “Wisdom is the
principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get
understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)
