If That Is Not Love

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.(Romans 5:1-8)

Today’s Morsel:  One of the things about God is His character.  The Bible tells us that God is love (1 John 4:8).  And God was willing to demonstrate His love to us by leaving heaven, knowing His destiny was the lonely hill of Golgotha. There to lay down His life for us.  Paul, expounding on that love, states, “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  And Jesus would tell us, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.(John 15:13)  If Calvary does not show us how much God loved us, then nothing else ever will.

Sing:  If that isn’t love the ocean is dry, there’s no stars in the sky, and sparrows can’t fly!  If that isn’t love then heaven’s a myth, there’s no feeling like this; If that isn’t love.

Thought For Today:  Don’t ever forget Calvary!
