Come and Dine
“Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath
no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and
without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and
your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat
ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.”
(Isaiah 55:1-2)
Today’s Morsel: Back when I was a
kid, most farms had a bell located somewhere on the crib or barn for the wife
to ring to let their husband and children know when dinner and supper were done
(today many people call it lunch and supper). They knew the meal
was ready and it was time to come home and dine. Even churches had bells
on them to let people know when church was about to begin, so the folks knew it
was time to come and dine. When the apostles had fished all night and
taken nothing, the next morning Jesus had fish cooking on the fire. He
told them to come and dine. Isaiah asked the question, “Wherefore do you spend money for that which is not bread? And your labor for that which satisfies not? Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your
soul delight itself in fatness." Do you hear the bells ringing for you
to come and dine? Stop work for that which doesn't satisfy your soul.
Take time to eat what Jesus has for you. Only Jesus can satisfy the
hunger of your soul.
Sing: Only Jesus can satisfy your soul, only
He can change your heart and make you whole. He’ll give you peace you
never knew, sweet love and joy and heaven too. Only Jesus can satisfy
your soul!
Thought For Today: It’s chow time!
