Get Out to Get in
“Wherefore
come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the
unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you,
and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Having
therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all
filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (2 Corinthians 6:17-7:1)
Today’s Morsel: Have you ever wondered why some people seem to
have a harder time serving God than others? Well, the reason is, they
refuse to make up their minds. You can’t get in the church if you are not
willing to come out from the
world. James informs us that a double-minded man is unstable in all his
ways (James 1:8). You can’t straddle the fence. Christians
must have a made-up mind. From the time that Jesus Christ began His
ministry, He began
to preach and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at
hand. (Matthew 4:17) This was the case with all the prophets, John
the Baptist, all the apostles, and all their genuine successors in the
Christian ministry. The call was for people to come out of the
world so they can enter
the land of promise. Repentance calls for a
change. You can’t get in if
you don’t get out. “Then Peter said unto
them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for
the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the
promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as
many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify
and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they
that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were
added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued
stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread,
and in prayers.” (Acts
2:38-42). You must get out to get in.
Sing: He
brought me out of the miry clay, He set my feet on the rock to stay, He put a
song in my soul today, a song of praise hallelujah!
Thought For Today: How
long have ye between two opinions?
