Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2017 October 30

“Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man” (John 2:23-25).

Today’s Morsel:  The Apostle John shows us that Jesus was God in his gospel and epistles more than all the other writers combined.  I believe that his closeness and laying on the bosom of Jesus reveals what revelation and understanding of truth will come when we are close enough to hear the heartbeat of Christ.  John's writings seem to make statements to draw our attention to the knowledge that Jesus is the Christ; “That ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name” (John 20:31).  Scripture says that he did not need to testify of man, because he knew what was in man.  Jesus already knows what is inside each of us because He is the Creator of all things.  He knows our hearts.  He knows our likes and dislikes.  He knows what is inside every one of us.  Scripture says when the woman with the alabaster box anointed Him inside Simon's house, “Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner. And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace” (Luke 7:39-50).  He knows what is inside of man, therefore there is no need for Him to testify of him. There can be no higher evidence than this that he was omniscient, all-knowing, and was therefore God Almighty.

Sing: The Mighty God is Jesus, the Prince of Peace is He, the Everlasting Father, the King Eternally, the Wonderful in Wisdom, by whom all the things were made, the Fulness of the Godhead in Jesus is displayed.

It’s all in Him! It’s all in Him! The Fulness of the Godhead is all in Him. It’s all in Him! It’s all in Him! The Mighty God is Jesus and it’s all in Him.

Thought For Today:  Who do you say that I am? (Jesus)
