Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2017 April 15

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:(Romans 6:3-5)

Today’s Morsel:  Why do we like to imitate people?  Some folks make millions of dollars each year imitating people just so others can laugh and hopefully not be so depressed.  There have been those who have even imitated Christ’s crucifixion for personal gain.  I pray that those of us who imitate Him in the church are not doing it for personal gain, but only for His glory and for our eternal salvation with Him in heaven.  Paul said that when we are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, we are being buried into His death.  And then he said that if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection.  That’s true imitation, and it’s no laughing matter, because our sins are washed away and we are walking in newness of life.  Thank God for the Resurrection.  He Lives!

Sing: He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me, and talks with me along life's narrow way.  He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!  You ask me how I know He lives? He lives, within my heart.

Thought For Today:  Be an imitator of Christ.
