And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again. And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him. And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept” (Mark 10:1-5).
Today’s Morsel: It seems that so many people are suffering from heart problems. Cardiovascular disease includes conditions that affect the structures or function of your heart, such as:
· Coronary artery disease (narrowing of the arteries)
· Heart attack
· Abnormal heart rhythms, or arrhythmias
· Heart failure
· Heart valve disease
· Congenital heart disease
· Heart muscle disease (cardiomyopathy)
All these diseases of the heart can be fatal. When the religious tried to entrap Jesus, they asked him, “Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him. And Jesus answered and said unto them, what did Moses command you? And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. Notice, He told them it was because they had a heart problem. Divorce does not happen when both parties have a good heart towards God and towards each other. Guard your heart, for out of it are the issues of life.
Sing: Create in me a clean heart, O’ God, and renew a right spirit with me. Create in me a clean heart, O’ God, and renew a right spirit with me. Cast me not away from Thy presence, O’ God. Take not Thy Holy Spirit from me; restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation, and renew a right spirit within me.
Thought For Today: Have you checked your heart lately? (Parker)
Search me, Oh God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts, and see if there be any wicked way in me. And lead me in the way everlasting.
