2015 May 26 - Morning Manna

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering. And this is the offering which ye shall take of them; gold, and silver, and brass, And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim wood, Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense, Onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate. And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. (Exodus 25:1-8)

Today's Morsel: When we read God's word in the Books of the Law, we can see just how detailed God is in His instructions for what He wants to be accomplished. And even in his requirements for the people, He identifies what He wants in detail.  But I am afraid that sometimes, when we read His word, we may think that it does not apply to us because we are not under the law but rather under grace.  King  David is probably one of the greatest writers in showing us the value of  God's instructions.  He said: "The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward" (Psalms 19:7-11).  Note the value of God's instructions to us.  If we obey them, they will change our lives for the better.  If you will notice today's passage in Exodus, God told Moses to require certain things from the people to make them a sanctuary so He would dwell among them.  In order words, God was saying, I want them to build a church. I want them to build a place that We can meet together. I want a place that I can dwell among my people.  What are you giving to build the sanctuary for God's presence in your life?  He requires something from all of us.   Are you willingingly giving it?

Sing:  Lord, prepare me, to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true, and with thanksgiving, I'll be a living, sanctuary, for You.

Thought for Today: God desires to dwell among His people.
