Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously. Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.
(Psalms 96:10-13)
Today's Morsel: Every Christian should be anticipating that moment of Jesus' return. The children of Israel knew that the Messiah was to come, but they were not ready. They were taken totally by surprise. It seems that only Simeon and Anna, a prophetess, were looking for him to come. Both of them stayed around the temple waiting for him. The Psalmist said that the Lord will come to judge the earth and the people with His truth. Jesus said that He was the truth (John 14:6). When He was on earth Jesus said, "And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day" (John 12:47-48). If we are doers of the word of God (James 1:22-25), then we will have nothing to worry about when Jesus comes again to judge us. We will be ready and expecting Him when He returns.
Sing: Behold He comes, riding on the clouds, shining like the sun at the trumpet's call, lift your voice, it's the year of jubilee out of Zion's hill, salvation comes.
Thought for Today: "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves" (James 1:22)
