2015 May 27 - Morning Manna

And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the LORD continually. And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron's heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually. (Exodus 28:29-30)

Today's Morsel: One of the duties of the high priest was to judge between clean and unclean, and the holy and unholy things that were brought before God.  When God gave Moses instructions for Aaron's garments, He called for two objects or stones to be placed upon the breastplate of judgment.  The urim and the thummim. The word urim means lights, and the word thummim means perfections, or an emblem of complete Truth.   Notice, these two objects where placed upon the breastplate, which covered the heart.  The breastplate of righteousness, or the breastplate of  judgment, was to remind him of seeing and judging truthfully.   As the Lord admonished King David: "Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said, The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain" (2 Samuel 23:1-4).  The high priest was to represent Jesus in every way of his life.  The same is true for all Christians.  We all must be in judgment for ourselves on a continuous basis to ensure we are allowing our light to shine before men, and living in complete truth, as nothing else will count.

Sing: Holiness! Holiness! Is what I long for, holiness is what I need, Holiness, holiness is what you want from me.

So take my life and form it;  take my mind, transform it; take my will, conform it to Your's, to Your's, oh Lord.

Righteousness,  Righteousness, is what I long for, Righteousness, is what I need,
Righteousness, Righteousness, is what you want from me.

Thought for Today: The judgment of the Lord is true and righteous all together.
