Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. (Genesis 3:1-5)
Today's Morsel: Isn't it amazing that at one time snakes could talk? Someone said they still do talk, they are just standing on two feet (humor). Balaam even had a donkey that talked to him. In our scripture, here is Eve talking with the serpent. And we see that the serpent tricked her into believing that she would not die if she ate the forbidden fruit. Like so many, Eve is having a conversation with the devil and doesn't even know it. Some have conversations such as, "Don't let them tell you what you can and cannot wear." "Don't let them tell you where you can and cannot go." "Don't let them tell you what you can and cannot do." "You have the Holy Ghost, that's just their doctrine." Paul told Timothy, "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils" (1 Timothy 4:1). He also told the church at Corinth, "Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices" (2 Corinthians 2:11). If you are not obedient to the word of God and the authority that He places over you, the enemy will always get you to believe his ways. And it is often through speaking to you through a subtle voice.
Sing: Just to walk with Him, means everything to me. Just to know He's near His hand is leading me. Though the world pass me by, go their way, let me be, just to walk with Him means everything to me.
Thought for Today: "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world"(1 John 4:1).
