2014 January 25 - Morning Manna

"Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you"
(Hebrews 13:17).

Today's Morsel: If you were asked how important obedience is, what would be your answer?  Benjamin Franklin said that we should let obedience be the first lesson we teach our children.  Even the Prophet Samuel told King Saul that to obey is better than sacrifice. When we obey God's word and those put over us, we will see how obedience really works and keeps us protected.  Obedience is a sign of discipline and submission.  It reveals a sense of righteousness, contentment, and temperance.  I know that many may not see obedience as being all these things, but obedience really is like discipline, doing the right thing when no one is watching you.

Sing: Trust and obey for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, than to trust and obey.
