It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
(Lamentations 3:22-23).
Today's Morsel: I was relating to the church in Bible study that each new day brings about new things, and so they might as well forget about what happened yesterday because they cannot change it. I told them, "So you might as well forget every hurt, mistake, and lie, and start fresh and anew, because you can't change yesterday. Just purpose not to make the same old mistakes and lies" But sad to say, too many people want to live in the yesterday. They want to hold on to past hurts and wrongs in hope of getting even. But holding on to the things of yesterday will prevent you from moving forward and growing. The children of Israel were provided new manna every morning. They couldn't get manna from the day before. It was gone. Jeremiah said that the Lord's mercies are new every morning. David said that His joy and loving kindness comes in the morning (Psalms 30:5; Psalms 92:2). God does want us to think He runs out of things for us. The psalmist even lets us know that He daily loads us with benefits (Psalm 68:19), and He calls for us to not forget those benefits. "Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's" (Psalms 103:2-5). Don't think that God can't provide for you. As He asked Abraham, "Is there anything to hard for the Lord" (Genesis 18:14). I know not any. And He told Jeremiah: "Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD" (Jeremiah 9:23-24). If you are in need of His mercy, it's already there for you.
Sing: Every day with Jesus, is sweeter than the day before. Every day with Jesus I love Him more and more. Jesus saves and He keeps me, He's the One I'm waiting for, every day with Jesus, is sweeter than the day before.
