2013 October 14 - Morning Manna

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it. When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God
(Acts 7:51-55).
Today's Morsel: Probably one of the greatest messages ever preached was preached by Stephen. The entire chapter 7 of Acts is his message. When he was questioned, he took them back to the beginning of the Bible and walked them through to the present moment they were at. And because they were following the pattern of their forefathers by resisting the things of God, Stephen said that they were stiff-necked. In other words, they were stubborn and not listening to nor observing what God was doing. And because of this, he told them they were resisting the Holy Ghost. So many seem to be resisting the Holy Ghost today ,following the same pattern. Jesus said, the Holy Ghost would be a comforter to you in the time of trouble and need. It would come along beside you to give you that peace that passes understand, and assure you when things aren't going your way. It would be a helper to lift you back up when you fall or when you are knocked down. It would be a light when the dark times surround you. But like the Sadducees, Pharisees and Scribes, people today reject the Holy Ghost when it comes. They are still looking for someone or something else to help them. But Jesus said, "I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins" (John 8:24). The next time someone tries to tell you to go to church, pray and read your Bible when you are going through a trial or difficult circumstance, don't resist, but obey and see what the Lord will do for you.
Sing: He brought me out of that miry clay, He set my feet on a rock to stay, he put a song in my soul today, a song of praise hallelujah.
