Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints
(Ephesians 6:10-18).

Today's Morsel: Warfare is nasty business. And in that business comes hurts, suffering, and loss of life. Even though we have spiritual armor to wear, there will always be some that will not take it serious; thus, either losing their life or the life of others. Some folk see church, personal development, spiritual growth and spiritual maturity as optional things, and not as a necessity. Paul uses the metaphor of a soldier's armor to stress the importance of preparation. I'm sure he had seen how those Roman soldiers marched into Jerusalem and the equipment they wore and carried for their protection. Maybe he had seen how those soldiers' equipment had protected them from some of the Jewish attacks by Barabbas and his henchmen. And now, being a soldier of Christ, he felt the need to call our attention to the armor we have and how we should wear it for our own protection. Truth, righteousness, gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God are some of the best protection a child of God can have. Because once you have proven these things, you have Christ surrounding you, and there is no foe in hell that can defeat you.
Sing: Well I am a soldier, in God's army, and I'm marching I'm claiming victory, I will not give up, I will not turn around, I'm a soldier, marching heaven bound.
