Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
(1 Thessalonians 5:17-18)
Today's Morsel: Have you ever heard someone say that they don't have anything to be thankful for? You know, being thankful doesn't have anything to do with having things; being thankful is an attitude of the heart. Just because someone does something to you that you do not like, doesn't mean that you shouldn't be thankful. Jesus said to pray for your enemies. If He wants you to pray for your enemies, He also must want you to be thankful for them as well. Sometimes it's our enemies that cause us to see who we really are when we pray for them because we may be the enemy and not them. As the old saying goes, "It takes two to tango."
When you know who Christ is and who you are in Him, you should always be thankful. Paul told the church at Philippi, "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:3-6). When others come to your mind, do you thank God for them? Do you thank Him for your home, your family, your current situation and circumstance, or do you complain? If our hearts aren't filled with gratitude, they will become evil.
Sing: Thanks! Thanks! I give you thanks, for all you have done. I am so blessed, my soul has founded rest, O Lord, I give you thanks.
