"A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight" (Proverbs 11:1).
Today's Morsel:When dealing with our grandkids, my wife always like to keep things even. If she gives to one, she givesto the other 8 as well. The parents even tease her that she sits and counts how many sprinkles she puts on cupcakes to make it fair and equal! It has been reported that some butcher shops used to use unbalanced scales to cheat people on the amount of meat they were buying. Many of the scales had not been calibrated for years. So when the people bought a certain amount of meat, they thought they were getting 10 pounds but may only have been getting 7 or 8 because of the uncalibrated or unbalanced scales.
Solomon said that a false balance is abomination to the Lord. He said that God hates it when people are cheated. In other words, Solomon was saying that it turns God's stomach. Even in ministry, people need to be given the full truth even if it hurts. That's what they are coming for. I know that there will be those that only want you to tell them what they want to hear. But there are others that want the full truth. Jesus said that we should do unto others as we would have them do unto us. Therefore, equality and impartiality should be the hallmark of us all. And that should even include counting sprinkles.
Sing: Count your blessings name them one by one. Count your blessings see what God has done. Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your many blessing see what God has done.
