2012 March 31 - Morning Manna

And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORDbefore Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was noopen vision" (1 Samuel 3:1)

Today'sMorsel:  How much value do you put on memorizing theWord of God.  Amos tells us, "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not afamine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD"(Amos8:11).  The Lord said through the prophet Hosea, "My people are destroyedfor lack of knowledge "(Hosea 4:6). ) Solomon said, "Where there is no vision, the people perish"(Proverbs29:18).  And Samuel said, "That the word of the Lord was precious becausethere was no open vision."  The people hadno direction. When something is precious, it is dear to you. You value it withyour whole heart. The Word of the Lord should be precious to us.  We should do everythingin our power to hold on to it.  The Word of God is a light unto our feet and a lightunto our pathway.  It is a comfort in our times of affliction.  So the next time you are facing a low pointin your life, ask yourself, what scripture could I quote to myself right nowthat would give me strength and encouragement to carry me through what I'mgoing through.  If you can't think of one, if you cannot quote one, or don't have one that comes to mind, the Word may not be too precious to you, and you may wan to spend more time hiding it in your heart through memorization and meditating on it.  Remember, it was the Word that Jesus  used to defeat Satan.  Let me encourageyou, hide the Word in your heart because trials will come.  Ask Job!   And thebetter prepared you are with the Word of God, the more likely you are to survivethe test.

Sing: Deeper, deeper in the love of Jesus, daily let me go,higher, higher, in the school of wisdom more of grace to know.
O' deeper yet, I pray, and higher, everyday, andwiser, blessed Lord, in thy precious holy word.
