And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ (Ephesians 4:11-15).
Today's Morsel: I am thankful that God didn’t set an age limit on what it would take for one to grow in Him. When we realize that we all get on the train at a different stop in this life, and that each of us determine our own spiritual growth, we then must realize that we are the ones that set our own limits as to how high we will go in Christ. The prophets of old said that God would make our feet like hinds feet and cause us to walk upon our high places. Spiritual growth takes you to a higher level. When you study God's Word and apply it to your life, you grow and move to a higher plateau. We are commanded to study to show ourselves approved unto God, workmen that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). One of the ways to determine a mature saint of God is through their love and commitment toward the things of God. The storms of life do not shake them, and fear doesn’t grip them. They are as bold as a lion with love and patience. They walk with confidence and they know where they are heading. The cares of the world don’t drag them down and they are willing to do what is asked of them for the kingdom of God. We must not just grow in Him in somethings, but we must grow in Him in all things. What rung of the ladder are your hands on today? If you think you are at the top, then turn around and help someone else up.
Sing: Deeper, higher, everyday in Jesus, daily let me go; higher, higher, in the school of wisdom, more of grace to know.
O deeper yet I pray, and higher every day, and wiser blessed Lord, in thy precious holy word.
